Robert A. Knisely
Resident Senior Public Servant
During a thirty-year career in the civil service, Bob Knisely worked in seven
cabinet departments
(Defense, Health, Education, and Welfare, Housing and Urban Development,
Commerce, Energy, Transportation, and Education) five independent agencies (the
Office of Economic Opportunity, the Federal Energy Administration, the Consumer
Product Safety Commission, the ACTION agency, and the National Endowment for the
Arts) and three White House ad hoc projects (President Ford’s Clemency Board,
the response to the first Arab Oil Embargo, and Vice President Gore’s National
Performance Review). He was also a member of the Bush/Quayle Transition Team. He
was in the Senior Executive Service for twenty-five years. He was listed in
Who’s Who in America beginning in 1984, and was given the Distinguished
Presidential Rank Award in 1997. He graduated from Harvard College and received
his law degree from Georgetown University.
