Student Services
SPS offers students attractive living accommodations in single and
double rooms. Students are housed at St. Albans residence halls,
where they live alongside resident faculty, as well as several faculty
families in adjacent apartments. Accommodations in the residence
halls include a game room, a television lounge, a laundry room,
and two common rooms in addition to the students' own rooms. Student
rooms are furnished with a bed, dresser, wardrobe, desk, bookshelf,
and chair.
Daily meals are provided. In addition to a family style lunch,
residents will enjoy a breakfast buffet and informal dinners with
faculty, speakers and other summer school students in the St. Albans
Refectory, a beautiful room which has been the gathering place of
leaders for a nearly a century. A registered nurse is on site, and
a residence hall manager and Resident Assistants are always on duty.
Two school libraries are available for study groups.
Weekends
Students may take advantage of the many opportunities Washington
offers: museums, theaters, concerts, sporting events, cycling, and
shopping. SPS students will have some choice about the trips they
take each week, though staff members will always accompany the group.
Faculty members may also lead special tours to such historic places
as Monticello, Mount Vernon, Annapolis, Antietam and Gettysburg
National Battlefield Parks. Students will also have the opportunity
to visit universities and colleges in the area, such as Georgetown
University, University of Virginia, Howard University and the U.S.
Naval Academy.
Athletics
St. Albans athletic facilities include outdoor track and field,
basketball courts, a swimming pool, tennis courts and a well-equipped
weight room.
